Diane and her seven siblings lived in poverty and ignorant to much of the outside world as a child. She was happy with that world. She then faces abuse as a young girl then again as a teen. The horrors of abuse continues through two separate marriages until she meets a man that she calls her guardian angel. Her life then is happier than she had ever been.
Viz tells Theodore that in the future a great wizard would be born. This wizard and she alone would hold the key to his return to his human form. But, if she had not discovered the secret by her 18th birthday, Theodore would remain a stuffed baer for all eternity.
Satan sends an evil wizard into the future to prevent Theodore from realizing his destiny.
